Herman: Judgment on constitutionality, not on abortion

- State Level
- This issue affects Texas citizens, doctors, nurses and other medical staff at affected clinics
- All Texas citizens should be concerned with this ruling due to the continued battle regarding the "abortion" law. The law will continue to be voted upon to determine it's validity and voters should be current with their information in order to vote responsibly.

- I don't agree with the law against abortion. Therefore, the recent ruling against portions of the law excited me. A judge ruled portions of the law to be unconstitutional. I happen to believe that the entire law is unconstitutional, but I will take what we (women of Texas) can get.

The judge's ruling shows the severity of the law and the mistakes it includes. For example, the law directly affects women's right to health care. The implementation of the law will result in closure of many health care clinics throughout Texas where many women receive health care for a variety of reasons, not only abortions.

I don't expect the abortion law to be repealed in Texas, at least not for a long time. However, the recent press on the issue is a great way to show those who support the law that it isn't right.
