- Category of problem: Health Care policy
- Level of problem: National
- Article concerns: The House and Senate debating over Obama Care being passed and spending more money and needing to raise the borrowing limit for money.
- Importance/affect on families/individuals: This affects us in many ways, you have many people with no insurance but then you look at future issues that may arise from this law that could possibly hurt the working American financially.
- My opinion on the issue: After reading this article I honestly don't have a slight clue what is going on, but from what I can infer is that the Republicans hate Obama (obviously). Okay that was a given, and they hate Obama Care. One of the reasons they hate it is actually something that caught my attention; it will spend a lot more money (that we don't have). Another thing, Ted Cruz the Republican, went on a verbal attack about Obama Care for almost 24 hours mentioning a few things that could possibly be true. He mentioned how Obama Care could actually hurt the working American financially and the law will still apply to certain people, not all. The baffling part of this all that when the vote went through Ted Cruz voted for it, NOT against it. So after going on 21 hours on a rant he threw his efforts all away. Cruz wanted to shut down the legislation so he can prevent the bill to be voted on, but when it does he votes for it! Very confusing tactic but I think out of humiliation he decided to join the rest. So about a year from now the Obama Care Act will be implemented and hopefully our nation isn't negatively affected.
This is a blog for Texas State students taking FCS 4347 (Family Policy) to be able to post their weekly reading assignment (3 newspaper articles about issues or policies that effect individuals and families) and to write their reactions, opinions and implications of the articles.
