Obama Faces Barrier in His Own Party on Syria

2.      Problem/Issue identified in article: National Safety
3.      Level of problem/ issue: Nation Level
4.      The article concerns: A problem/issue that individuals/families face
5.      Why is this important to individuals/families OR how does this affect individuals/families?
Majority of the president’s supporters oppose having another U.S. military intervention overseas and his Democratic party is split. This decision is very important because this bold move could it can put us Americans (individuals), the family members that fight for our country lives at risk, and also affect our economy.
6.      My view on the issue is that I am leaning against military action in Syria. We have so much to worry about United States yet alone another country. For example, spending cuts hurting public assistance, social security, and Medicare. Now the thought of war seems slightly irrelevant to his voters which are minorities and urban districts. We have just been through a long episode of our military being in Iraq that our citizens are drained completely on the idea of war. There are a lot of “if” questions being asked if we go to war or not, “what if the situation get better or worse?” War votes are still the most personal decisions a politician can make, so it would be very difficult no matter how hard the president try to convert and convince the members about an attack.
