2.) Category of problem/issued being identified: Massive debt.
3.) Level of problem/issue: National Level
4.) State whether the article is concerning one of the following: An “enacted” policy that has been passed to help with a problem/issue that individuals/families face
5.) Why this is
important to individuals/families OR How does this affect individuals/families: This is important because this affects us students that go into the workforce owing the government thousands of dollars. When recent grads find jobs they spend years to wipe the plate off of debt.
6.) What are
your views on the issue/policy?:
The issue is the fact that we are preached about getting higher education since the age we can comprehend the actual conversation we have with parents, teachers, counselors, etc. When we finally get that acceptance letter of the university you been waiting weeks or months to hear from, we are jumping with joy and just thinking one step closer to getting a great job and make money. Then when the tuition is sent out to be paid reality sinks in. Average tuition for a university in the United of States is about $20,000 per year, and for those who don't qualify for financial aid can only get loans. It is a vicious circle where we spend thousands for an education to better our workforce for then for graduates to be found in a time where finding a job is very difficult. So that just racks up the debt and sends us in a downward spiral, but in this article it does mention how to find this new debt forgiveness helpful but of course not all can qualify. So good luck fellow future graduates, may you prosper and find a job.
