Marijuana Muddle

1. http://www.nytimes.com/2013/09/13/opinion/the-marijuana-muddle.html?_r=0

2. Category: federal state relations

3. Level of problem/issue: National level

4. A problem issue that individuals/families face

5. This law primarily helps individuals and families by making sates that have legalized marijuana safer. The federal government has agreed to let these states legalize the plant on the condition that they create a stronger regulatory and enforcement system.

6. Like the federal government, I do disagree with states wanting to legalize marijuana. I feel that it will only make it harder on government officials to keep peace in cities. I am under the impression that many individuals will abuse this "privilege" and endanger local families. I feel that this policy is completely necessary when legalizing this drug. There should be more enforcement in the streets such as there is with alcohol. There are many children who may be affected if this policy is not enforced. With the legalization of this drug; officials have to take into account that many parents of children may consume this drug. This would not be safe for children especially if it is within their reach. That is why safety precautions should be enforced.
