Private Schools are Expected to Drop a Dreaded Entrance Test

2. Education
3. State
4. a potential policy that is being considered to help a problem/issue that individuals/families face
5. This affects families when it comes to their children's education and entry into a certain school. This can be a major issue when dealing with the money that is spent to prep for such testing and the stress and anticipation put on the family, and child when dealing with entry into a school.
6. I strongly disagree with giving out these standardized tests. Children at the age of four and five should not be subjected to any kind of standardized test like the ERB. Young children in this age range differ dramatically when it comes to uniqueness, their ways of learning, and the rate of development at which they do learn. I also see something like this as unfair. Some families cannot afford to go out and pay for all the test prep and tutoring that is spoken about in the article pertaining to preparation for these exams. So having two different children take the same exam, one with all of the available prep work, and without, just isn't fair, and shouldn't be a way to determine whether a certain student should be let in to a specific school according to their score.  There is also the fact that a student with all of the prep in the world could pass this exam with flying colors but struggle in the classroom. Every student is going to be different when it comes to their learning styles and test taking skills, and having a standardized test to determine entry is just absurd. It also comes down to the fact that these tests are there to show if a student has the basic skills in reading and math. Isn't that what the school is for? If a student has mastered these things and scores highly on this exam, it would make sense that they wouldn't need to be in school to learn these things!
