A View of What's Missing From the Classroom

4. A potential policy that is being considered to help a problem/issue that individuals/families face
5. It is important for family/individuals to help lower absenteeism in schools across the country because it can affect the kids and cause them to drop out. When students are absent it causes them to fall behind and risk not being able to graduate.
6. My views on this issue/policy is that everyone as a community should help keep track of student's absences. If parents, teachers, and community members could encourage students to stay in school by mentoring, tutoring, and building strong relationships the campaign for attendance could be more effective. The public service campaign tried to create a nationwide initiative by promoting the role of attendance in academic achievement. They need to get the parents more involved because some parents believe that attendance only matters in high school, occasional or excused absences will not make a difference, which is very false. There are many campaigns, TV ads, websites, and print advertising that tries to carry the message to parents and students that too many absences equal no graduation. The new campaign that I thought that would be a great idea of having "Text2Track" an SMS program that helps parents keep track of their child's absences. But the downfall to that idea is that everyone can't afford to have a cellphone, so the texting initiative could be affected by some parents but not all.
