2.  Category of Problem/Issue identified in article: Economy

3. Level of problem/issue: National Level

4. A problem/issue that individuals/families face

5. Why this is important to individuals/families OR How does this affect individuals/families:
This is important because we haven't had a gab this bad between the 1% and 99% since the roaring 20's.  It affects almost the entire population, the rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer.

6. What are your views on the issue/policy?
It's funny that I saw this article in the San Antonio Express-News today because we just watched a film about it.  I think it is a huge issue. There was a period where America was about building jobs and establishing the "American Dream" after the great depression.  Now no one trusts anyone,  most rich people are greedy, and the poor are left suffering.  I know some people talk about helping the poor in other countries and to make a difference, but they need to realize that America as well, has a high rate of poor and homeless people.  This article states that "In 2012, the incomes of the top 1 percent rose nearly 20 percent, compared with 1 percent for the remaining 99 percent."  It also states that "In some industries, U.S. workers now compete with low-wage labor in China and other developing countries." I think it is very sad that we've come so far only to regress back.  It makes you think, "What made us this way?" or "Where did we go wrong?"  So many things have changed over the years.  Our morals have changed, our values have changed, we've all changed.  I think there is still hope out there for people willing to help other's in need but I think our trust issues have gotten bigger.  The fact that some American's have become so materialistic and everything is "mine, mine, mine," makes it harder for those who need an income or necessities to get by. Why can't the 1% give up part of their thousand dollar bonuses or raised income up to open up more jobs for those who need it.  Who really needs an apartment with 37 bedrooms or a Christmas tree in each room of the house.  I sure don't.
