County

An "enacted" policy that has been passed to help with a problem/issue that individuals/families face

This is important because it affects voters as a whole. This could help to inform more people about the new voter ID rules and help voting be more effective.

I think that it is a good thing to take a proactive stance with these new voting rules as Dallas is doing. I agree with the new regulations, and think that they will help voting become easier seeing that you can use 1 of 7 forms of identification. I also think that this will bring out more people to vote, because most people will not have to go through the trouble of getting a voter’s registration card. I know that personally, I hate taking the time to register to vote. Knowing that I can just use my driver’s license to go vote motivates me, and will probably make me go vote. However, I think that the $145,000 that is being spent to inform voters is a little outrageous. I think that if you are not an informed citizen or voter already then you shouldn’t be able to vote. Citizens can easily be informed of these new rules themselves if they are actively involved in their communities and the news that is going on. I think that we already have enough voters that are not fully informed and that spending this amount of money to inform even more uninformed voters is a waste of money and could sway voting polls in a very ineffective way. I believe there are effective ways to inform voters without spending this large amount of money to mail out this information.
