5. This issue is important for tax payers and for fast food workers. It is important for tax payers to be aware that they are supporting a large portion of restaurant workers. It is also important for fast food workers because they are the one's that are having to seek out public assistance programs.
6. I am not that shocked that low-wage fast-food workers are most likely on welfare. The fast-food industry is a multi-billion dollar industry and their workers usually only receive minimum wage. You would think that the industry would pay their workers more rather than make million dollar advertisements but unfortunately that is not how it works. If fast-food workers are trying to support themselves or a family all on their own $7.25 isn't going to cut it. Obviously they are going to have to get financial support from the government which in turn falls onto tax payers. I feel like nobody should be too shocked about this issue it has been this way for an extremely long time. I don't really see fast-food workers pay increasing either because if that happens then the price of food will go up and this could possibly effect the restaurants sales and they aren't going to let that happen. So it seems to be a vicious cycle to me. I do have to say though I respect people that are on welfare that have a job, at least it shows that they are trying.
