Texas Abortion Law Trial in Day 3

1.

2. Health/medical

3. State level

4. An "enacted" policy that has been passed to help with a problem/ issue individuals/families face.

5. This is most important to two individuals: doctors practicing abortion and mothers who wish to abort. This policy has already been enacted, but is in trial for changes.

6. Abortion has been controversial for centuries. Over the summer, there was finally a law passed in the state of Texas which was to restrict many aspects of abortion in the state. Today, this house bill is still controversial and many debates are still going on. The House Bill 2 or Abortion Law requires blocking two main parts. The first requirement is for doctors to gain admitting privileges from a nearby hospital. This restriction makes sense because many times during abortion practices women can have serious complications. These complications such as blood clots may be very difficult to handle in a small clinic and it would be easier to remain under control if it were in a well equipped facility such as a hospital. The greatest problem with this requirement is that there are several doctors that would like to remain anonymous and would not like to be associated as abortion doctors. Many protesters, knowing the identity of these doctors may harass them because of their views. The second requirement in the House Bill 2 involves the abortion inducing drugs. These drugs used to be administered once in the clinic and the other dosage on your own in the comfort of your own home. With this law it will now be required to obtain the second dosage also at the clinic. This can be very uncomfortable for women for who it was first difficult to go to their first dosage. It may discourage women to abort at a clinic over all.
