- This issue affects all citizens in Texas
- Texas voters should be concerned with this issue as it will appear on the November 5th ballot. Voters will be asked to make a decision on the use of the states rainy day money and necessity for water project funding. In the midst of a drought it is crucial Texas citizens carefully consider the money that will be used and the projects being proposed.
- Rick Perry urges Texas voters to pass the referendum in order to use "rainy day" funds to create water accessibility for the next 50 years. Obviously, it is important for Texas to have water. I do wonder exactly what water "projects" are being proposed.
The article states that Perry is pushing the issue because it allows his government to spend money without raising taxes. This sounds good to me, I don't like to pay more taxes. However, i can't help but speculate that Perry has a double motive for not wanting to raise taxes. We all know Perry would like to climb the governmental ladder. And, I feel that he would like to say " i didn't raise taxes" more than he would like to say "I provided water for Texans". This is simply my dislike for Perry.
Overall, I need more information regarding the proposed amendment. Besides the drought I wasn't aware that Texas was in danger of running out of water. So, a larger case needs to be made for me to vote on it. Also, specific plans, and the distribution of funds statewide should be discussed. Would every district in Texas receive part of the funds equally? And, what exactly is the plan to secure such a large project over the next 50 years? Get to work, Perry, we need more answers!
