The article is concerning an issue that
individuals and families face.
5.
This issue affects individuals and families
because of the children attending school who are being bullied. This is not a
case of bullying between peers, but a case where an adult who is supposed to be
in charge and set a proper example is bullying a child.
6.
Previously, if someone told me whether or not
bullying was an issue that needed to be dealt with, I would tell you no; some
kids need to toughen up and deal with their bullies. This advice comes from a
very naïve person, though. Growing up in a rather small town where I could tell
you the life story of everyone in my graduating class, the only bullying that I
encountered involved harmless teasing, name calling, and trickery. Having heard
of more instances of bullying from other people who grew up in bigger cities
with a much more diverse population, my opinion had slowly changed on the
matter. Finally, after reading this article where a school janitor is the one
provoking the bullying, my opinion has completely and permanently changed
altogether. Bullying is absolutely not acceptable, especially from a grown
adult who is supposed to be setting a good, upstanding example for these
students. Obviously, I believe that this school administrator should be fired
and not allowed to work near children ever again, but would this truly solve
the problem? I believe that bullying is a learned behavior, but where are these
children learning it? Yes, I am sure they are learning the behavior from
watching other students or falling victim to bullying, but are they seeing this
behavior from adults, as well? I also think that if students are not
reprimanded for bullying other students, they all take notice and decide that
the action is harmless or okay to commit.
Bullying has become an ongoing issue within schools. Today was actually a day where students and teachers could wear purple to support their no bullying campaign. There are programs and lessons that are trying to be taught in schools against bullying but of course, it still will remain. It's become as bad as kids getting severely injured. I find it incredibly ludicrous that an adult provoked the bullying between students. I agree that he should be fired and that punishments for bullies should be even more severe.
