1. http://www.chron.com/news/texas/article/House-Democrats-unveil-immigration-bill-4863456.php

2. Category of Problem/Issue identified in article: Immigration

3. Level of problem/issue: National Level

4.A potential policy that is being considered to help a problem/issue that individuals/families face

5. Why this is important to individuals/families OR How does this affect individuals/families:
This is important to individuals who are trying to become citizens.  It affects them in a positive way, and would make it easier for those immigrants to become citizens.
6. What are your views on the issue/policy?
My views are that they should pass this immigration bill.  It provides a path for the 11 million immigrants who are living in the United States already.  This bill will also tighten up on the border security.  I think that it is great that this bill is willing to help those who are already here.  Even though those immigrants came to the United States illegally,  I think they deserve the right to become a citizen, so that they can go to school or get a job to make an income rather than do odd jobs that don't pay much. The only problem with this bill that the Republicans are not really willing to help and do something about it.  Another problem is that the House Judiciary Committee was scheduled to have a meeting on the issue on Tuesday, but because of the government shutdown, so until the shutdown is over, then they can maybe bring up the topic and set a date.  Representative Joaquin Castro comments, "If it doesn't happen, it's really a failure of House Republicans to listen to the American people to take action."  I hope that this bill can get passed as soon as the shutdown is over and things go back to order.  I feel like it would be great for those immigrants to get a job and work to better themselves, than struggle for years to get their green card. Also, tightening the security on the border would help lower the immigration rate and decrease the problem.
