Rough Patch for Trail Policy

1.

2. Road Safety

3. Local level

4. A problem/issue that individuals/families face.

5. This is a problem that could potentially affect families because many people use these trails on a daily basis. What if a father/provider of a family was injured because of city negligence?

6. This article is interesting because it mentions a problem that many Austin citizens face. Although it may not be a large part of the population who may entirely be affected by it there are several citizens who may be harmed if there is not a policy put into place. There are several trails around the city that are intended to be used by bikers. The downside of these trails is that there is not as much protection offered to bikers who may use them after dark. City council argues that there was too much money spent on constructing these trails and their argument is that why should there be vigilance on these trials as well, that will only cost even more money. In a city the size of Austin, every citizen should be entitled to safety even those citizens who use bike trails. There should be a policy implemented in which there should be more time required by police to patrol the areas. There should not be a policy restricting times in which the trails should be used because then why were they built to begin with if not for usage? With traffic such as the traffic experienced in this area it is difficult to get home at a specific time. You cannot constrain usage times because you may never know what you may encounter on the road that will delay you. There should be more input from authorities to overall benefit those who use these trails.
