2. Category of Problem/Issue identified in article: Health/ medical
3. Level of problem/issue: National Level
4. An “enacted” policy that has been passed to help with a problem/issue that individuals/families face
5. Why this is important to individuals/families OR How does this affect individuals/families:
This affects individuals and families who are trying to sign up for healthcare and cannot due to glitches. It is important that it is fixed soon.
6. What are your views on the issue/policy?
My views on this policy is that it is a one that is trying to benefit those who are in need of healthcare. On the other hand, it is being delayed due to glitches. Some consumers reported that there was a delays on healthcare.gov as well as problems setting up security questions for their accounts. There was also a recurring glitch when some consumers got all the way to the end and found out that their sessions had timed out. Others as well as insurance companies are saying that there is still enough time to fix the system before uninsured Americans start getting coverage on January 1st. I have mixed reviews about the Affordable Care Act. I think that it is great that we can insure people that need it, but I also think that those who don't have it should not be punished. I also feel that maybe it would have been best to delay it for a bit, so that the government wouldn't have shutdown. I feel like the shutdown has caused so many problems for so many people. It not only affects those that cannot work due to the shutdown, but it affects those that need those as resources. I really do feel bad for that girl that needs those government resources for her thesis for grad school. I think that many people are getting affected without these resources. There needs to be some compromise soon so that we can get back on track.
