US cutting hundreds of millions in aid to Egypt

- This issue affects Egyptians and Americans alike.
-The loss of aid to Egypt will likely create resistance between the two countries. However, Americans need to consider the pros and cons of less foreign aid and more domestic aid.
- Initially I thought this issue was concerning the recent partial government shutdown. And, the inability of our government to decide upon a budget. However, after reading this article I realized that although these reasons may have prompted the issue our foreign aid to Egypt is being reduced for other reasons (military "crackdown"). And, I think it is a good idea. There are cons to the decrease in foreign aid however, and these cons need to be carefully thought out by our foreign defense team to prepare for such situations. At the end of the day, I firmly believe the majority of USA money needs to stay domestic and contribute to the rise in our countries quality of life. Although this isn't the reason for decreasing funds to Egypt I hope that the money saved will be used wisely.
As I state that less money oversees means more money in the United States, i also believe that it is important to assist less-able countries to reach the necessities for a basic quality of life: food, safety, shelter. The article did state that the US will continue to provide such funds to Egypt.
This issue brings up many more issues than foreign aid.The article explains that the United States and Egypt have had a long history of assisting each other in various ways. I hope that the reduction in aid doesn't cause controversy between these two nations. We have enough problems in the East and Egypt should remain an ally if at all possible. However, we also can't contribute aid to a regime that is funding military attacks. This is why I don't work in foreign defense- I just don't know what to do!

I would like to know why the U.S. was sending financial aid to Egypt in the first place. That's something that I wasn't aware of until I saw it in the news. I agree that the U.S. should help ourselves before helping others. That's why we're in so much debt. We should focus on our domestic financial issues and prioritize those before we can help another nation. It does keep our relationship good with the countries we help but it also keeps us in the hole.
